Incompletes: A series of experimental projects that were never fully completed… yet!

Incompletes.

Balancing personal and work project can be a challenge. Sometimes these are at odds leading to personal projects to be put by the way side. This series is a compilation of incomplete projects between 2020-2021. While labelled “incompletes” this does not mean these projects will never be finished. Instead, when work quietens down, then I will tackle them.

Below is a description of some of the projects in the video.

Macaw Dance.

The Macaw Dance was my first foray into using Blender for modelling, rigging and animation. Using finger print textures and flat colours I created a plasticine-esque look. The animation is heavily inspired from the game Kirby where Kirby dances at the end of each level.

Inner Workings.

I had a weird idea one night to try out making my head hinge open and have a mini version of myself inside. The mini me was created using Facebook’s experimental tool PIFuHD which can convert an image into a 3D model which can then be rigged.

Tortle Animation

Inspired from a Dungeon and Dragon’s campaign I wanted to create a character swimming through the water. Using a combination of After Effects, DUIK IK and Overload, I managed to make a fairly adjustable rig for such a motion.

In the future I hope to add more details (sea-weed, rocks and fish) as well as having the tortle jump in and out of the water.

Drink Responsibly

Inspired by the Drink Responsibly campaigns I wanted to make a animation about a man of glass dancing and slowly filling up with alcohol. When the glass man is full, he would fall over and shatter on the ground.
